It’s going to be a quiet week in the office

There’s only one working week left before Christmas and with the majority of people away on holiday this week it’s going to be quiet over the next few days.

Adding a street lighting system to the LEGO town

Last year we (a few people at Fubra) began constructing a small LEGO town on some unused desk area, starting off with a few town essentials including a Green Grocer, Petrol Station and a large cargo plane.

The collection rapidly increased and a few weeks later we found ourselves adding a few plates of road, a farm and then even a railway amongst other additions. more…

How many chavs can you fit inside an igloo?

Whilst some of us were unable to get into the Fubra office on Wednesday, those who were within walking distance managed to find their way in and made the most of it.

Re-writing the Fubra Video Player (aka FuTube)

During the month of August last year, I began writing an ActionScript 3 wrapper for the YouTube Chromeless API in order for us (Fubra) to display clean, unbranded (almost) videos on our sites.

At the time there was no AS3 API available, instead we had to rely on interfacing with the JavaScript API. This meant that there were numerous classes created in order to create the player, interface with the API, handle any errors and custom events. more…
