BlackBerry dropped one too many times…
Whilst getting ready for work this morning I dropped my Blackberry onto a wooden floor, but didn’t really think too much of it at the time.
Once I had got to work I took a closer look at the damage, spotting that the screen had small crack and some of the left hand side was not displayed.
At first I thought it was going to be a case of getting a new phone, until recommended by a friend to simply get a new screen which would be a cheaper and easier solution.
This came as a bit of a relief to me, as my phone contract doesn’t expire for another three or four months so waiting until then isn’t really an option.
After searching eBay for a replacement part, one was ordered and shipped today at a cost of £29.99 including shipping.
While searching I discovered that that were a number of different LCD part numbers and only replacing the screen with the same model would work, in my case the 001/004 model.
This required taking the phone apart to find the model number on the back of the screen. Unfortunately, after putting it all back together I discovered that the screen had got even worse.
The only way to see anything on the screen is to squeeze to top of the phone, allowing you to be just about able to make out what is displayed.
Hopefully the new one will arrive tomorrow, otherwise don’t bother contacting me on my mobile until at least Monday!
