How to build a LEGO corn field in a few easy steps

Today we received another delivery of LEGO products, not a complete set but a bag full of pieces from the Pick A Brick online service.

The main reason behind this order was to help improve our farming area and to do that we needed accessories and improvisation.

After recently picking up more green base plates, we needed to break up all the flat colour and decided to borrow an idea found elsewhere on the internet.

Assuming we are going to create a field full of corn to fill a 32×32 green base plate, it will cost around £32.50 and you will need (approximately):

  • 500 x Green Stalks (5p each)
  • 150 x Yellow Round Bricks (5p each)

Start by connecting varying amounts (between 3 and 5) stalks and adding a yellow brick to the top.

It will take a short amount of time to get through the whole field, but the end result is quite believable and definitely worth the effort.

We decided to split the corn either side of the passing railway, using a few singular stalks to represent some less developed areas.

Other modifications to the town included fencing off the railway tracks from the road and modifying the film set (medieval market town) a little.
