Writing a blog post every day for the duration of an entire year?
Last year a friend of mine, James Gregory, attempted the 365 photo challenge and managed to do fairly well when it came to it’s completion.
I thought that this was a really interesting thing to try and achieve, but didn’t think that I was someone who would manage to see the whole thing through.
Instead I thought opting for something that was just about possible, yet challenging for me to achieve would be a good idea. A few weeks back now, Harry Ford – another friend and a colleague – suggested project52, which didn’t immediately jump out at me – until the other day that is.
I decided to make my own variation of this challenge (which more than likely already exists under a different name) by combining the one-a-day option from photo365 with project52′s blogging, but instead of one per week I’ll try and write a post every day.
This self motivated challenge involves writing at least one blog post a day for a whole year, whether it be a long essay or just a few brief points. To help me with this task I have armed myself with a domain, installation of WordPress and a BlackBerry Bold to allow me to post on the move or without my laptop (highly unlikely).
If anyone else is interested in joining me on this journey and contributing to their own year blog, I may be tempted to convert my WordPress Install into a WPMU version, allowing you to have your own year blog sub-domain (e.g. yourname.yearblog.co.uk).
I’d like to wish myself the best of luck and encourage you all to get guessing on the number of days that pass before this whole thing becomes an #epicfail
.
What a great idea very hard I would imagine but quite an exciting project. Can you set me up harryford.yearblog.co.uk? Really want to challenge myself with this one. Maybe I could take a photo of myself wherever I am every day and write a blog with it.
Sure, I’ll update the site to use WordPress MU and set you up an account
. Once it’s ready you’ll receive an email.
Thanks a lot Steve and good luck with yours I’ll keep up with yours. I’m sure you will be able to keep it up for a year
